CD Disc Crafts
Old CDs are a valuable material if you like crafting. From decorative displays and games, to fridge magnets, candle holders and disco balls, you can create something new with your old CDs. In addition, crafting with CDs is a way of keeping children entertained on a rainy day while also developing their artistic skills and creativity.

Mosaic-style Crafts
-
Use a Styrofoam ball and old CDs to make a disco ball. Cut the CDs into small pieces and glue them around the ball, with the shinier side out. Once the ball is covered, hang it to the ceiling and put on the music! Alternatively, use CD pieces to create a mosaic-style decorative box by gluing them on a shoe box.
Games
-
Make a jigsaw-puzzle by gluing an illustration or photo on an old CD. Once the CD is dry, cut it into small pieces. For another project, use colorful markers to draw a landscape or object onto the CD's less-shiny side. You also can make a memory game. Collect 12 or more CDs and glue a piece of black paper onto one side of each. Next, find pairs of identical illustrations in old magazines, cut them out and glue them on the other sides of the CDs. Yet another possibility is to create a memory game by making pairs of CDs with identical words, letters or numbers.

Decorative Displays
-
Use a CD as base for a mini nativity scene or Halloween display to decorate your room or windowsill. Buy small figurines to add to your nativity scene. Decorate the CD with construction paper or fabric. Another idea is to make a Christmas display by adding a small plastic tree to the center of the CD. Make diminutive gifts boxes by wrapping Styrofoam or other material with foil paper and placing them around the tree. Or, you could create a decorative candle holder by gluing various CDs together in a stack. Place the candle in the middle and decorate according to your taste.
Fridge Magnets
-
Glue magnets on your CDs and decorate them to create fridge magnets. You can print photos of your family, friends, pets or favorite vacation destination and glue to one side of the CD. Also, you can use felt, scrap fabric and colorful paper to decorate your fridge magnet. Make a turtle fridge magnet by gluing a piece of green felt onto the CD. Cut the legs, tail and head out of felt and glue them on the CD's rim. Glue buttons and pieces of ribbon to decorate.
