A key component of WordPress success is using the right plugins.

The whole point of blogging is to get your message out, and RSS feeds are an efficient way to do so. RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication and it's the Internet standard for content distribution. One of the things that makes RSS so useful is that almost anything can be added to an RSS feed, including images and video. RSS plugins make it easy to share your WordPress content with others and to publish their content on your site.

  1. Feed Key

    • If you have a private or membership site that only accepts registered users, Feed Key lets you assign a 32 bit key to each user, which creates a URL that's unique to him. This prevents unregistered visitors from viewing your feeds.

    Better Feed

    • If you'd like to enhance your feeds with additional data, Better Feed can do it. It's compatible with Feedburner and it has the ability to add everything from related, read more and social bookmarking links, to custom footers and PHP functions.

    FeedStats

    • The more you know about your feeds the easier it is to meet reader needs. FeedStats gives you detailed feedback on how your feeds are being viewed, including the time of day and number of visitors.

    RSS Footer

    • If you'd like to add a line of text to the top or bottom of every article in your feed, such as a copyright notice, RSS Footer is an easy way to do it. You can also link back to the original article by checking the "Other options" box.

    RSSupplement

    • RSSupplement is another way to add extra data to your feed. This includes things like copyright information, the post author, categories and comment links. If you're using Sociable, RSSupplement also supports its buttons.

    FD Feedburner

    • If you want to use Feedburner to improve the syndication of your RSS feeds, the FD Feedburner plugin will convert your existing feeds into Feedburner feeds. Your main and, optionally, comments feeds are redirected to Feedburner.com without any work on your part.

    Feed Wrangler

    • Feed flexibility is what Feed Wrangler is all about. Its helps you customize feeds to meet your needs by adding advertisements, bypassing Feedburner redirects, creating a custom feed URL, removing Feedburner ads, or doing Movable Type style editing.

    RSSless

    • If you embed images and videos in your feeds, some subscribers might have readers that won't see them. Instead of showing these visitors a blank space where your image or video was, use the RSSless plugin to replace this content with a personal message telling them to go to the original article to view the missing content.

    RSS Feed Campaign Tagger

    • RSS Feeds can be used to market products and services, and RSS Feed Campaign Tagger adds tracking codes to your RSS marketing links so you can check the stats in Google Analytics. These tracking codes tell you how many clicks convert to sales when your RSS subscribers visit the links in your feeds.

    Category Specific RSS Feed Subscription

    • If your site covers many different topics, your visitors might not be interested in all of them. The Category Specific RSS Feed Subscription plugin lets you create a topic subscription menu, so visitors to your site can subscribe to the content they want and exclude the rest.
