If your loved one is a martial arts fan, you should be prepared with some ideas for good appetizers for a karate party, so you can create a birthday or anniversary celebration that will be remembered fondly. Since karate has its origins in Japan, you would be wise to incorporate appetizers from Japan and other Asian cultures into your party menu.

  1. Rolls

    • Spring rolls and egg rolls are two good appetizers for a karate party that will please individuals of all ages. Spring rolls have a light, almost translucent, wrapper. They are generally filled with vegetables or seafood. Egg rolls have a thick wrapper that is deep fried, and they are generally filled with heavier meats. Accompanying dipping sauces for rolls can include anything from sweet and sour sauce to soy sauce to extremely hot wasabi. If you are having a karate party for kids, ketchup will be the dipping sauce of choice for egg rolls.

    Sushi

    • Sushi is basically raw fish or vegetables that are packed in rice and wrapped in seaweed. There are myriad sushi varieties available, all of which would make for good karate party appetizers. Soy sauce makes a perfect dipping sauce for sushi of all varieties.

    Healthy Treats

    • Martial arts encourage healthy living, so you can set out nutritious vegetable and fruit platters at your karate party as appetizers. Carrot slivers, sliced apples, tiny tomatoes and broccoli heads are all small enough to qualify as finger foods. Low-fat dips should accompany your health food platters to add flavor accents to your appetizers.

    Fortune Cookies

    • Set out fortune cookies for guests to nosh on at your karate themed party. You can either purchase fortune cookies from your local grocery store, or order personalized fortune cookies that include event-specific messages like, "Your presence at our party ensures good fortune in the near future."
