Make a wreath using diapers and baby toys.

Diaper wreaths consist of diapers wrapped around a wreath frame and decorated with various baby toys. They're a fun way to give diapers and toys to a mom or mom-to-be as a gift or prize. They are also fun to make and allow for plenty of creativity.

  1. Make Frame

    • A wreath frame is what you will build your wreath on. They're generally made out of metal or Styrofoam and can be found in a wide variety of sizes. Although Styrofoam costs less, metal is much stronger. If you plan on hanging many items from your diaper wreath, go with a metal frame. When selecting a frame for your diaper wreath, don't choose one that's too thin because the Styrofoam could break or the metal could bend. You also don't want one that's overly large or you won't be able to fit the diapers around it properly. Look for one classified as a "standard" size.

    Attach Diapers

    • Unfold the diapers to create a long rectangle. Don't open the flaps on either side as this will make them unsanitary. Place the center of a diaper under the wreath frame, pull the ends upwards and tie the diaper in place just above the frame with curled ribbon or clear elastic bands. Continue this process until the entire frame is covered with diapers. If you don't think that the finished product is thick enough, add another layer of diapers.

    Add Decorations

    • A diaper wreath isn't complete without decorations. Unlike a standard wreath, the decorations on a diaper wreath are meant to be useful. Examples include toys, small stuffed animals, pacifiers, bottles, bibs, baby powder, socks and bonnets. These can be attached with ribbon or clear elastic bands. If you're using ribbon, curl it for a decorative effect. Try to space the decorations evenly and place a larger item, such as a teddy bear, at the top or bottom of the wreath as a focal point.

    Using Diaper Wreaths

    • There are a number of different uses for a diaper wreath. You can hang one on a loved one's door while she's giving birth as a surprise for her when she returns home with her new baby. You can also use them to decorate for a baby shower, or wrap one in clear cellophane as a shower gift for a friend. If you attend events that many expectant mothers or mothers with young children attend, a diaper wreath can be made to raffle off or give away as a prize. They can also be made to sell at a fundraiser or craft fair.
