Ideas for What to Wear for Halloween
Halloween is the time, once a year, when people of all ages can dress up in scary, silly or ridiculous costumes. Part of the fun of Halloween is concocting your costume to get a laugh or a scream or whatever emotion you hope to get from your friends and trick-or-treaters. Plus, there’s an endless list of what you can be for Halloween. You can use existing ideas or create your own.

Monsters, Witches and Other Evil Characters
-
Scare your family and friends by donning a scary costume. Classic costumes include a ghost, witch, monster, zombie or vampire. Dress up as a generic evil character or use one from movies and TV, such as Freddy Krueger or the villain from the “Scream” movies. Scary costumes usually involve a face mask, disturbing makeup and dark clothing.
Superheroes
-
Someone has to defeat evildoers, and that’s where superheroes come in. Pick your favorite superhero from TV, movies or comic books, and wear that hero's uniform as you fight crime on Halloween night. Popular superheroes include Superman, Batman, Spiderman and Wonder Woman. Costumes typically include brightly-colored tights and tops with a face mask.

Celebrities and Entertainers
-
Many people dress in costumes that reflect pop culture, especially celebrities, such as musicians and movie stars. To make your costume a success, pick a celebrity known for their distinctive style, such as Lady Gaga or a member of the Village People. Match your costume to what that person wears in real life and people will think they have a celebrity in their midst.
Jobs and Hobbies
-
Dress in the uniform of a particular job, hobby or service. Put on some camouflage gear and become a soldier. Slap on a lab coat and carry a stethoscope to become a doctor. Wear a football uniform, complete with pads and a helmet to become a football player. Likewise, get creative to put an unusual slant on your uniform. For example, spill some fake blood on that lab coat and carry a fake saw to become a deranged surgeon.
