Other options range from enjoying some fun in local parks to taking part in the city's annual events.

  1. Outdoor Play Activities

    • Kids looking to enjoy some outdoor fun have the choice of more than 30 city parks, as well more than 30 miles of pedestrian/cycle trails (parks.cdaid.org). Sporting activities include skateboarding and BMX riding at the Coeur d'Alene Skate Park, baseball and soccer at the Canfield Sports Complex and basketball at Sunset Field. City Park and The Landings offer kid's play equipment and splash-pad facilities for children to have some fun. Centennial Trail and Prairie Trail have paved and unpaved sections for kids to try some biking or inline skating.

    Indoor Activities

    • The North Idaho Christian Youth Theater (cytnorthidaho.com) provides indoor fun for kids in Coeur d'Alene. The organization offers a variety of after-school activities for children ages 4 to 18, including drama, dance and music. Three sessions a year, during spring, summer and fall, allow kids to sign up for activity lessons, as well as audition for a musical production staged for the local community.

    Water Activities

    • According to the Coeur d'Alene Visitors Bureau (coeurdalene.org), more than 55 lakes lie in and around the city, providing plenty of opportunities for water activities. Double kayaks enable children ages 4 to 11 to enjoy kayaking with a parent, with kids 12 or older permitted to paddle on their own.

    Educational Activities

Organized by the Coeur d'Alene Parks Department, the race takes place over a one-mile course, with the entrance fee helping with the upkeep of city trails. Fun for kids at the event include sports activities, craft demonstrations and a free movie.
