A Pig Craft for a Toddler

Toddlers can do wonderful crafts when the subject is pigs.

Pig crafts can be done with toddlers if you keep the craft age-appropriate. Toddlers love embellishing; leave the assembly and decorating to the toddler. Pig crafts can be made with basic art and craft supplies you will most likely have on hand. Turn items like paper plates and colored construction paper into crafts your pig-loving toddler will enjoy making with pink paint and googly eyes.

  1. Paper Plate Pig

    • Use a plain paper plate to make a pig craft. Paint the entire plate pink and set aside to dry. Twist a pink chenille stick for the pig's tail and affix to one side of the plate with tape or glue. Add large googly eyes and use a felt pen to draw the pig's snout and mouth. Cut pink construction paper into triangles for ears and four rectangles for feet. Glue all the pieces in place to complete the pig.

    Finger Puppet

    • Use pink card stock if you can find it, otherwise use white card stock and paint it a solid shade of pink. Once dry, trace a pig's head silhouette onto the card stock and cut it out. The shape will basically be a circle with two triangular bumps for the ears. Have the toddler glue googly eyes onto the pig's face and help her draw a smile with a thin black felt pen. For the nose, trace the tip of her finger and cut out a small hole. When playing with the finger puppet, draw two small dots on the tip of the toddler's finger to act as the pig's snout.

    Felt Craft

    • Cut out a variety of pink felt shapes and have your toddler assemble the shapes into a pig. Make the pig's body out of a dark shade of pink. Next, cut eyes, a round shape for a snout, two nostrils, a mouth and various other details depending on how simple or complex you wish the craft to be. Have him glue each piece in place with plain white craft glue. The finished pig can be left as is or glued onto a plain throw pillow for the child's bed.

    Mobile Craft

    • Print out an assortment of pig pictures and have your toddler paint, color and embellish the images. Tie two small wood dowels together with ribbon or twine to form the base for the mobile. Glue the finished pieces onto colored card stock and cut around the image, leaving a thin border of colored paper. Punch a hole with a standard hole punch into the top of each pig image and thread a strand of ribbon through it. Secure it with a knot. Tie the images to the mobile base and hang in the child's room with an additional length of ribbon.
