How Set Up a Friendship Bracelet Sale at School
Some schools have strict rules about selling items you make, such as friendship bracelets, to other students. These rules are put into place to prevent students from getting scammed by other students. However, these rules don't mean that you cannot sell the friendship bracelets you make. You will have to work with the school to set up the sale and give them a reason why they should let you sell your product.
-
Business Plan
-
If you are serious about selling your friendship bracelets at your school, you need to create a business plan. This plan does not need to be elaborate, but is useful for presenting your idea for permission. Having a good reason to sell your product will help you convince your school to give you a chance. Using the friendship bracelets as a fundraiser for your school or another good cause is more likely to receive a welcoming response than selling them for your own profit. The business plan should also detail how you will separate your sales from the school activities to avoid distracting students from learning.
Permission
-
To set up a franchise to sell friendship bracelets in school, the most important aspect is to obtain permission from the appropriate party. In many cases, this means approaching the principal or school board with your idea. Prepare yourself to answer any questions, such as where you will sell them, for how much and when. You may also encounter questions regarding how you will make enough of the bracelets to fulfill the demand. The more prepared you are when you seek permission, the more likely you are to succeed.

Advertise
-
Once you have permission to sell the friendship bracelets at school, advertising becomes a top priority. Tell all your friends that you will be selling the bracelets and encourage them to let others know. Create posters that tell other students what you are offering, where, when and for what price. Hang these posters around the school, but make sure you ask where you are allowed to hang them. If you are donating the proceeds to a specific cause, list the cause so students know where their money is going.
Setting Prices
-
Friendship bracelets often require only embroidery floss and time to create. These materials make it easy to set your prices for the bracelets. If you are making them for a charity, you do not need to charge a lot for your time, especially if you have others helping you and they don't expect to be paid. Because one skeen of embroidery floss can make a larger number of bracelets, your costs are fairly low. Therefore, a majority of the money you take in can go directly to your school or charity. A common amount to charge for these friendship bracelets ranges from $2 to $5, as of 2011.
Inventory
-
Before your starting date to sell the friendship bracelets, you need to build your inventory so you have enough for the demand. If you do run out, you can always take orders from students so you will have enough bracelets the next time around. When taking orders from other students, give each student who orders a bracelet a piece of paper that details what she ordered and how much she owes. Wait to collect the money until you deliver the product. Taking orders allows students to customize a bracelet in their preferred colors.
