Dance Party Ideas for Crafts
Dancing is an entertaining pastime, but it can also wear you out pretty quickly; kick off your dancing shoes and take a quick crafting break at your next dance themed party. There are a variety of theme appropriate crafts you could undertake that are quick and easy to complete, so consider the kind of dance party you're having to choose a fitting project.

Decorative Dance Outfits
-
Depending on the kind of dance party you're hosting, there may be a specific costume or outfit to go along with the form of dance. For instance, if you're hosting a ballet party, you could spend some time adding decorations to basics like leotards, tutus and ballet shoes. Provide your guests with glitter, paint and decorative embellishments like rhinestones and beads to bling out their clothing pieces. Similarly, if your dance party theme is for a dance team troupe, you could jazz up your existing uniform pieces with things like iron-on adhesives or you could make decorative scrunchies to keep your hair out of the way while you're performing.
Props and Equipment
-
Aside from requiring specific clothing items, some dances may require special props or equipment to perform correctly. For example, if you're hosting a flamenco party you could make some paper fans or button castanets during your craft time and then use them afterwards in your dance choreography. Or if you're focusing on a specific era like the 1970s, you could create dance floor equipment like miniature disco balls with bits of mirror and plastic foam balls.

Figurines
-
Honor the different kinds of dance with some cute and collectible figurines. You can make the figurines out of a variety of materials from clay to wood; for an inexpensive and easy option, use wooden clothespins as the base for the form of your figurines. Then, customize the base portions with bits of fabric and other decorative materials to make diverse dancers, whether they represent the tango dancers of Argentina or Russian ballerinas.
DIY Soundtrack
-
While dancing is possible to do without music, it's much more entertaining when there's a soundtrack involved. Focus your craft around the importance of music; have your guests create their own homemade versions of instruments that can be decorated with materials like paint and glitter. You could also give each guest a burned CD of the playlist from your party and then have them decorate the cases creatively using a variety of paints, markers and stickers for a fun keepsake.
