Alien beings can spark the imagination of children.

Imagination is a big part of children's lives and helping to develop imagination does not have to be a difficult or expensive task. If you know of a child that is intrigued by alien beings or alien spacecraft, you can let their imaginations run wild with these fun projects. Many of the items needed to make these crafts are likely items that you already have at home.

  1. Alien Head

    • Have children shape a chunk of modeling clay and create an "alien head." Gather items such as hoses, old gears, kitchen utensils and just about anything else and use them to create what the child might expect an alien head to look like by placing them in the modeling clay.

    Alien Mobile

    • Draw shapes on card stock or colorful construction paper and cut the space shapes out with scissors. Use a plastic circle or two wood dowels shaped into a cross to hang the shapes from. Hang the shapes from fishing line or string. Have children get creative with the shapes. Focus on spaceships, alien bodies and planets.

    Alien Characters

    • Use foam craft balls for heads and bodies, pipe cleaners for limbs and wild eyes to create alien characters. Paint the foam balls in various colors that children may imagine aliens to be. Foam hands and foam feet can be added for even a more creative look. Glitter can be added to the wet paint to add a bit of planetary sparkle.

    Space Photo Frames

    • Use a foam photo frame or cut a frame out of card stock to create a other-worldly picture frame. Decorate the frame by painting images onto it or by applying stickers to it. Cut out shapes drawn on construction paper of various colors and glue those shapes to the frame. Ask the children to imagine that the the frame was a souvenir from a trip to another planet where aliens live.
