Kings & Queens Crafts
Preschoolers and young children love tales of royalty, either real or imagined. They get lost in the fantastical stories of kings and queens ruling their kingdom and can let their creative juices flow by crafting items related to these royal figures, either as dress-up wear, homemade toys or fun decorations.

Crowns
-
Crafting crowns can be both fun and educational at the same time. A child can use items such as construction paper, cardboard or shiny poster board. Preschool teachers and parents can incorporate crown crafts into shape lessons featuring triangles and circles. Have the child glue the material of choice into a circular shape and then cut the points of the crown into several triangles. The child can then decorate the newly formed crown however he likes, with articles such as feathers, glitter, rhinestones and buttons.
Mini King Statue
-
Empty toilet paper rolls have several crafting uses and are especially handy when creating a mini statue of a king. Pictures of a king's body and dress can be printed online at sites like Dltk-Kids.com. Children cut out the different king parts and glue them onto an old cardboard toilet paper roll. The shoes can be folded and glued to the inner part of the roll to create a three-dimensional effect. This craft is not only fun, but it teaches children about body parts and dressing themselves.

Magic Wands
-
The kings and queens of fairy tales were often mystical characters with magic powers, using wands to cast their spells. Wands are simple crafts for young children and require little more than paper or aluminum foil and a bit of imagination. Kids can cut the material into a wand and give it color and glitz with magic markers, sequins or glitter.
Christmas Ornaments
-
Holiday candy comes into play with these festive king and queen Christmas ornaments. Two Reese's mini peanut butter cups with Christmas-colored foil wrapping are glued together to form the body. A bead is attached with craft glue to act as the head and small gold rings are glued to the bead for a crown. You can add wings found in craft stores to make them king and queen angels, or just leave the angel element out. Glue a small piece of string or hanging wire to the back of the top piece of candy so this royal ornament can hang from the tree. Remember, the candy should not be eaten as it has been exposed to glue.
