Koala Preschool Craft
Koala craft ideas are simple to do with preschool children to help them gain an interest in exotic animals. Koalas are part of the marsupial family, which means they have a pouch in which to carry their babies. Teach small children about koalas and their habitat with fun-to-make craft projects.

Toilet Paper Roll Koala
-
Make a stand-up koala out of a toilet paper roll. Draw a koala bear head on paper, or print out a template of a koala from the Internet. Use a square to create a body to cover the roll with. Have the preschool kids color in the koala bear and then cut it out. Use a glue stick to glue the body to the outside of the toilet paper roll. Glue the head onto the top of the roll. Cut out two small pieces and glue them to the bottom of the roll for feet.
Koala Mask
-
Use craft foam board to design a koala mask the kids can wear. Gray and black foam board is needed for this. Cut out a round shape for the koala's face. Cut out two smaller circles for ears. Glue them to the sides of the face. You will need an oval black piece of foam to glue on for a nose. Cut out eye holes. Punch holes in the sides for an elastic string so they can strap it to their face.

Clay Koala
-
Modeling clay or polymer clay come in a variety of colors. Use gray clay to make koala figurines. Roll balls of clay to create the body, legs, arms, head and ears for the koala bear. Attach all of the pieces together by pushing the clay together after shaping each part. Use small black pieces of clay to add eyes, or you can use beads or buttons. Add an oval ball of clay for the nose. Bake the koalas the kids make on a cookie sheet according to the package directions to cure them to a hard finish.
Fingerpainting
-
Have the kids use different colors of paints to create fingerpaintings of koala bears. Show the preschool children different pictures of koala bears and their habitat to give them an idea of what koalas look like to help them in creating their own picture of a koala. Fingerpainting brings out the creativity in kids. It allows them to use their imagination and motor skills to design a work of art on their own.
