Kid's Chipmunk Craft
A member to the squirrel family, chipmunks are spry little creatures, found in undergrowth of a wide variety of environments. They have reddish-brown fur, with black and white stripes on their faces, bodies and tails. Educate kids about these cute, furry animals while making chipmunk crafts. Create these crafts in school or at home.

Chipmunk Mask
-
Dress up for fun by making a chipmunk mask out of a paper plate. Paint the bottom of the paper plate brown then cut out two eye holes. Using paint, draw on the chipmunk’s white and black markings around the eyes holes. Also draw on a black nose and a mouth. Attach a piece of string or elastic to both sides of the mask with glue, tape or staples. This will keep the mask on your head. Glue an ice cream stick to the bottom of the plate so you can hold the mask up to you face, if you want.
Chipmunk Hand Puppet
-
Make a chipmunk hand puppet out of a brown paper lunch bag. Lay the paper bag flat so the bottom flap faces you. The flap will be the chipmunk’s head and the rest of the bag its body. With markers, draw on the animal’s eyes, facial markings, nose and mouth on the flap. Cut two small, round ears, two arms and a tail out of brown construction paper and glue them to the brown bag. Add white and black strips to the side of the body. You can also dress your puppet by cutting out clothes from construction paper and gluing them on.

Recycled Chipmunk
-
Instead of throwing out empty toilet paper rolls, turn them into chipmunk crafts. Cut out ears, arms and a tail from brown construction paper or craft foam. Glue the ears to the top of the roll, the tail to the back and the arms to the sides. Draw on the eyes, nose, mouth and facial markings. To add another style of eyes, cut them out of black paper or glue on wiggly eyes. For the nose, you can also glue on a tiny pom-pom. Paint white and black stripes on the back of the toilet paper roll.
Chipmunk Mobile
-
Hang a chipmunk mobile over a baby’s crib or a child’s bed. Give the mobile a woodsy feel by using two long, straight sticks from outside or a more finished look by using two thin wooden dowels. Make a cross with the sticks. Where the stick meet, glue or tie them together. Tie a piece of string, yarn or fishing line to each end of the sticks. Cut pictures of chipmunks out of nature magazines, print pictures of chipmunks off the Internet or draw your own on construction paper or card stock. Glue a picture of a chipmunk to the end of each string.
