Make sure the centerpieces do not block eye contact and conversations of seated guests.

A wedding day is centered around the couple being wed. All the day's events, decorations and ceremonies are planned according to the wishes of the couple. No detail is overlooked as the bride helps to plan one of the biggest days of her and her fiancee's lives. The items used for table centerpieces will be picked according to the wishes of the couple, but a few starter ideas are always helpful.

  1. Candles

    • Candles add a romantic aura to a room and are perfect for a night wedding or an indoor reception. Often, wedding decorators will surround the candles with green wreaths or other circular decorations to represent the completeness of the couple as one. Bowls filled with nuts or candies or flower petals are common around a wedding centerpiece. Mirrors also create a peaceful, reflective glow when placed under the candles.

    Flowers

    • Flowers are the most traditional wedding centerpieces and there are many ways to include them as a centerpiece. Arrange flowers in a vase or basket, or have them woven into a floral wreath. Pull the petals off and fill a glass bowl with them. Mix different types of flowers and greenery to create a look specially designed to suit the couple. The choice of flowers, colors, and formality of the arrangement will depend on the theme of the wedding.

    Wedding Themes

    • Use the theme of the wedding to create the centerpieces. If the wedding has a geisha theme, consider serene mini rock gardens in the center. Use glistening rocks in shallow plates of water for an outdoor theme. Place mini Christmas trees in the table center for Christmas or winter weddings. Floating candles work well for elegant weddings and glittering centerpieces at princess weddings.

    Framed Photos

    • Use framed photos of the married couple for the table centerpiece. The photos need to be small since larger frames will compromise table space. A fun picture idea is to set different themes for each table, such as, "Table Three - Alyssa and James at the Lake" accompanied with a picture of the couple together at a lake. Use fun props, such as a mini boat, next to the framed picture.
