Ghost Necklace
-
Create a spooky necklace that doubles as a window hanger. Give each student a sheet of parchment paper, white craft glue, paper clip, set of googly eyes and a piece of yarn or ribbon. Using the craft glue, draw a ghost figure on the parchment paper. Set the eyes in the middle of the ghost’s head and the paperclip just above the eyes. Have each student write his name on the parchment paper and allow to dry for 24 to 48 hours. When completely dry, carefully peel the parchment paper off the dried glue. String the yarn or ribbon through the paper clip and tie at the ends to form a necklace or window hanger.
Ghost and Spider Lollipops
-
Make a dynamic duo of scary treats with lollipops decorated as spiders and ghosts. For the ghost, give each student one lollipop, one facial tissue, a set of googly eyes, craft glue and piece of ribbon about five or six inches long. Place the tissue on top of the lollipop, with the candy in the center of the tissue. Twist the tissue a few times around the stick and secure with a piece of ribbon. Glue the eyes to the head of the ghost.
For the spider, give each student one lollipop, one 3-inch-by-3-inch piece of black tissue paper, one small piece of black ribbon, four black pipe cleaners, craft glue and one set of googly eyes. Wrap the black tissue paper around the lollipop and secure with ribbon, similar to the ghost lollipop. Place the lollipop stick in the middle of the pipe cleaner and wrap it around the stick to create one leg on each side. Bend the ends of the pipe cleaner to create the spider’s feet. Repeat with the other three pipe cleaners. Glue the set of eyes to the lollipop.

Hanging Ghost
-
Make an easy hanging ghost to decorate the classroom with accessible and inexpensive materials. Provide each student with one white paper plate, one sheet of white paper, black crayon or marker, craft glue, ruler, scissors and yarn or ribbon. Instruct each student to cut the paper into five strips, about 1-to-2 inches thick. For easy measuring, each strip should be about the width of a ruler. Fold each strip back and forth to create an accordion-like pattern. Glue the strips of paper to the front of the paper plate. Turn the plate over and have each student draw the ghost’s face using a black crayon or market. Punch a hole at the top of the plate and string the yarn or ribbon through the hole. Tie the ribbon to create a hanger.
Jack-O’-Lantern Sun Catcher
-
Colorful paper pumpkins make eye-catching window displays. Each student needs one piece of orange construction paper, green construction paper, yellow tissue paper, scissors and craft glue. Instruct each student to cut out shapes in the orange construction paper to make the face of the jack-o’-lantern. Cut out a stem from the green construction paper. Turn the jack-o’-lantern over and glue the stem to the top of the pumpkin. Glue the yellow construction paper to the back of the pumpkin so it covers all the cut-outs. Hang the pumpkins in the window so the light passes through the tissue paper, creating a glowing jack-o’-lantern.
