Make a wall border using siblings' hand prints.

Create sibling hand print crafts to welcome a new sibling, give as a gift or capture the sizes of the children. The kids can work together to create a project that is a part of each of them. The hand print craft can become a part of your home decor or serve as gifts for family members.

  1. Clothing

    • Decorate clothing with all of the siblings' hand prints for holiday gifts, such as Mother's Day, Father's Day or for Christmas gifts for the grandparents. The children can choose their own favorite color and dip their hands into fabric paint, then pick a spot on the T-shirt, sweatshirt, scarf or apron. Guide the children so they don't cover up the others' hand prints. Alternatively, put the children's hand prints on paper and scan it into a computer. Shrink the hand prints to the proper size to add to a tie or small article through screen printing. The siblings can sign their names next to their hand prints, or you can write their names if they are unable to.

    Accessories

    • Create a set of ornaments with each of the siblings' hand prints for holiday or year-round decorations. For example, four siblings can each make a hand print on poster board or fabric, then cut the boards into equal sized squares and make a tissue box cover. Make their hand prints directly on a wooden trinket box. The kids can trace their hand prints out of colorful construction paper, then cut the prints and glue them to a circle to create a wreath. Use different colors to make a wreath for each holiday or season.

    Kits

    • Purchase keepsake kits that allow you to create molds of each of the kids' hand prints. Display all of their hand print molds on a rack or hang them on a single wall. Date the molds so you can track their growth. Consider redoing their hand prints every year or so to capture the growth and differences between the kids. Alternatively, make your own mold with plaster of Paris.

    Walls

    • Decorate the walls with hand prints. Create a border around the baby's nursery with his older brothers' and sisters' hand prints. Alternate between the colors or use one color for girls and another for boys. Use colors that complement the nursery decor and have the kids go in order from the oldest to youngest until the entire room is bordered with hand prints. Mom and Dad can take part in this as well. Or, use the siblings' hand prints to create a family tree on a wall in the living room or playroom. Paint a tree trunk with brown paint and use the children's hand prints to create the leaves, which will hold the family tree information. Alternatively, just use the siblings' and parents' hand prints to make the tree.
