Cute Craft Ideas for Adults on Valentine's Day

Cute Craft Ideas for Adults on Valentine's Day thumbnail
Adults can enjoy Valentine's Day crafts as much as children.

Crafting is not just for kids. In fact, intricate designs are more easily produced by the hands of adults. For Valentine's Day, crafts holding true to the theme of the holiday can take a cute turn in style without looking like they were made by a toddler. Instead of buying your own decorations or gifts for Valentine's Day this year, try making them yourself.

  1. Homemade Stuffed Animals

    • Depending on the level of your sewing skills, you can make your own Valentine's Day stuffed animal. Try your hand at making a stuffed patchwork rabbit or teddy bear out of red and white fabric scraps for Valentine's Day. Tie a red ribbon with a heart-shaped charm at the end around the stuffed rabbit's neck for an added decoration.

    Jewelry

    • Don't wait for a significant other to give you jewelry for Valentine's Day. Make your own holiday-themed necklaces and bracelets to wear during the first two weeks of February. Beaded charm bracelets only require stringing of Valentine's-themed beads and charms on clear fishing line. Homemade heart-shaped brooches or charms made from baked clay are another Valentine's Day jewelry option. Choose red, pink and white for your Valentine's Day jewelry to maintain the holiday theme.

    Photo Frame

    • Make your own picture frame by decorating a blank frame from a craft store or building your own frame from wood and decorating it. The frame can be used for putting an anniversary or date night photograph of you and your significant other. Decorate the edges of the frame with painted stencils in red against a white background. Ribbons or jewels glued to the frame add a touch of whimsy to the design.

    Wind Chimes

    • Wind chimes are not just for hanging in your yard in the summer time. Create a decorative set of wind chimes especially for Valentine's Day. Punch holes in the tops of plastic heart shapes. Thread the heart shapes onto string, alternating with jingle bells to make the hanging portion of the wind chimes. Tie knots on either side of each heart and each jingle bell to keep them from sliding down the string. Tie the tops of the strings of hearts into holes punched into the bottom of an empty can. Attach another string to the top of the can for hanging the chimes. When the wind blows, the jingle bells rattle and the plastic hearts tap against each other. For a louder sound, switch out the plastic hearts for heart shapes punched out of shell or metal if available from your local craft store.
