You can add a rabbit motif to a plain clay pot.

For an Easter or spring-themed craft, consider adding a rabbit motif to a clay pot you already have on hand. Select among a variety of techniques, from stenciling to decoupage, to create a finished clay pot to decorate your home, hold candy or to give as a gift to a friend.

  1. Stencil Border

    • Create a rabbit border around the edge of the pot by using a rabbit stencil, available at craft stores. Instead of stenciling with paint, use a pencil to trace around the rabbit image on the stencil, drawing the rabbit onto the pot. Repeat the image over and over around the top edge of the pot. Paint in the tracings using acrylic paint and a thin paint brush. This will give you the ability to paint in small details like eyes and noses instead of getting a flat stenciled image.

    Rabbit Face

    • Paint a rabbit face on one side of the clay pot, using acrylic craft paint. Sketch out the face first using a pencil, to make sure you get it right. Then, use molding clay to make bunny ears, attaching one ear to each side of the top edge of the pot using a strong glue. Some craft clays need to bake so check the instructions on the box before attaching the ears to the clay pot. Paint the ears to match the rabbit face.

    Fabric Covering

    • Use a square of fabric with a rabbit motif. Place the pot over the square, then wrap the edges of the fabric up toward the top rim of the pot. Tie a length of ribbon around the outside of the pot to keep the fabric in place. Use pinking shears to cut the top edge of the fabric so it won't fray.

    Decoupage

    • Use a decoupage technique to cover the outside of a clay pot with images of rabbits. Cut out photos of bunnies or rabbits from magazines or books and attach them to the outside of the pot with craft glue. Once the entire pot is covered, apply a coat of decoupage glue over the images, using a paint brush. Let the glue dry, and the images won't peel away over time.
