Panty hose that are snagged don't have to go to waste.

Halloween crafts can bring the family together and add festive flair to your home. Using recycled items around the house can keep the projects from costing much. Panty hose can be damaged easily, so instead of tossing a pair after they get snagged, wash and save them to create spooky decorations.

  1. Pumpkins

    • Create many of these pumpkins to fill a centerpiece basket or tie small pumpkins to a premade wreath. Dye a pair of nude panty hose orange and cut off the legs below the knee. Stuff the hose with cotton starting at the toe, or have your kids help with this step. Tie off the end to create a pumpkin shape. Make your pumpkin short and round, oversized or long and skinny, just like natural pumpkins. Use fabric markers to draw on faces or cut jack-o'-lantern shapes out of black felt and stitch them in place.

    Indoor Ghost

    • Just like making stuffed pumpkins, you can make stuffed ghosts out of white panty hose. This craft won't work without white hose, so you need the right color before getting started. Stuff a ball of cotton stuffing into the toe of a panty hose leg. Tie a knot, holding the ball in place. Tuck the ball of stuffing into the rest of the leg, so the extra hose extends down from the ball and creates a flowing ghost with no visible knot. Use fabric markers or felt shapes to create a face on the ghost. Arrange them with stuffed pumpkins indoors.

    Outdoor Ghost

    • Create ghosts to decorate a tree in your front yard. You'll need white panty hose and an old wire coat hanger. Stretch out the hanger to form a long diamond. Cut the white panty hose at the knee. Stretch the piece of panty hose over the bottom of the hanger, up to its hook. Tie the panty hose in place. Draw a face on the ghost with a permanent marker.

    Spider

    • Create spooky spiders and spider webs using a pair of black hose and several pairs of nude ones. Cut off a leg of the black hose and place a ball of cotton stuffing in the toe, knotting it in place. Trim the hose, so the knot is as small as possible. Place the ball in the center of the second leg, and twist the ends like a candy wrapper. Wrap the ends around the bottom of the ball and tie four long pipe cleaners to the bottom with the fabric ends. Shape the legs the way you want them. Shred the nude panty hose with scissors to create large, dusty-looking cobwebs. Place the cobwebs in a corner or on a table, attaching with a stapler or tape. Attach the spider in the middle of its nest.
