Columbia University is among the Ivy League schools that offer a business program.

On various university rankings, the colleges of the northeastern Ivy League are often highly regarded as among the best educational institutions in the U.S. As a result, many students are interested in these schools when pursuing a business school education. Prospective applicants may be surprised to learn that not all Ivy League schools have a business program.

  1. Columbia University

    • Columbia University, located in New York City, established its business school in 1916. Columbia began offering a Masters in Business Administration program in 1956. As of 2011, the Columbia Business School employs 150 full-time faculty members in business and offers graduate-level MBA, Executive MBA and Ph.D. programs to enrolled students as well as continuing education programs for working professionals.

    Cornell University

    • Cornell University's Johnson School of Management, located in Ithaca, New York, offers business programs primarily to master's students. Cornell also teaches business through continuing education programs at the IBM Palisades Conference Center near New York City and at various locations around the world.

    Dartmouth College

    • Dartmouth College has offered education programs in business since 1900 when the school founded the nation's first graduate management school. Dartmouth's Tuck School of Business employs 46 full-time faculty members at its campus in Hanover, New Hampshire. The school claims just over 500 MBA students as of 2011.

    Harvard University

    • Harvard University's School of Business has provided an MBA program to students since the school's founding in 1908. The Business School is highly selective; as of 2010, 9,524 students applied to Harvard Business School and only 11 percent were admitted as students. The Harvard Business School has 218 full-time professors on its faculty.

    University of Pennsylvania

    • The University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business was founded in 1881, and claims to be the world's oldest business school. Wharton admits a considerable number of its students from outside the U.S. and has alumni in 145 countries around the world. Wharton offers programs for undergraduates, masters and doctoral students.

    Yale University

    • The Yale University School of Management teaches business to masters students in its "integrated MBA curriculum," as well as doctoral students and working professionals. In 2011, Yale University began work on a new campus for its business school, a project which promised 242,000 square feet in new facilities for business students.

    Other Schools

    • The two other Ivy League schools, Brown and Princeton Universities, do not offer graduate school degrees in business. Brown University does offer a continuing education program MBA through a partnership with the IE Business School in Spain but does not have an independent business school campus.
