Large Clay Pot Crafts
Clay pots are commonly used to plant flowers, but you can make other items with the clay pots as well. Clay flower pots are easy to paint and glue, so get creative when you attempt to find uses for the clay pots that you no longer need for flowers.

Frog House
-
Paint the outside of your clay pot in a solid color or a decorative pattern. Seal the pot with polyurethane inside and outside to protect it from the elements and to protect the paint. Place the pot on its side in a shady part of your garden. Place moss, leaves and other vegetation on the inside of the clay pot to create a home for frogs and toads. Toads and frogs help with pest control, so giving the frogs in your garden a home will help free the area of insects.
Bird Bath
-
Large clay pots work well to create a homemade bird bath. Select two clay pots that are the same size and leave them natural or paint them and then apply a polyurethane coating. The two pots will create the base of the bird bath when you place one upside-down on top of the other and connect the tops using super glue. The large clay pot's saucer will create the top of the bird bath. Glue the saucer to the top of the bird bath base and fill it with water.

Pond
-
Many garden ponds are quite expensive, but you can create one using a simple clay pot. Choose a large clay pot that will hold at least 20 gallons of water. Seal the hole in the bottom of the pot, then apply a coating of polyurethane so that the water will not leak through the sides of the porous pot. Place a water circulator inside the bottom of the pot, then fill it with water and plant aquatic plants inside the pot. The water circulator will make sure that oxygen is brought into the pond so that the plants can survive.
Cooker
-
Large clay pots make a good option for cooking food. Soak the clay pot in water and use a piece of aluminum foil to cover the hole in the bottom of the pot. Build a charcoal fire in the base of the clay pot and place a grill grate over it. You can cook pretty much anything on the grill grate that you would cook on a regular grill, using the pot's saucer as a sealer.
