Get messy when making appreciation cards for your pastor.

Your pastor spends a significant amount of time and effort in responding and meeting the needs of his church community. To recognize his hard work, have your Sunday school class show their gratitude by making appreciation cards for your pastor. Using simple craft materials, you can make cards that will make him feel appreciated and loved.

  1. Helping Hands

    • Have your Sunday school kids thank your church pastor by making a helping hands card. Spread poster paint evenly into a plate before getting the kids to submerge their hands. Either using blank individual sized cards or one large class card have the children to gently place paint-covered hands onto the card to leave a hand imprint. Let the paint completely dry before allowing the children to write their names or a short sentence of appreciation to the pastor.

    Bible Stories

    • Encourage kids to get creative with crayons, markers and pencil crayons by drawing a scene from their favorite Bible story, such as Easter Sunday, Noah and his ark, and David and Goliath. For younger children who are too young to draw by themselves, draw simple Bible scenes onto a card and let them color the picture. Older children can write a few sentences of appreciation to the pastor. Regardless of the ages of your pupils, get them to present their cards to the pastor.

    Banner

    • Think big by making a huge banner to thank the pastor for his hard work. Paint the word thank you in bold colorful letters before allowing the kids to write sincere notes of gratitude and appreciation for all the hard work or support over the years. Invite members of the congregation to do the same. Surprise your pastor by hanging up the banner in your Sunday school classroom or in the church's altar or sanctuary.

    Cards and Tea

    • Combine your appreciation cards with a small appreciation tea. In addition to having the kids create handmade cards for the pastor, ask them to bring a small savory dish or dessert to share at a potluck. If you have time and access to a church kitchen, get the kids to make cookies for the appreciation tea. To maximize time, create the cards a week before the appreciation tea to allow the class focus on baking cookies.
