What Are the Benefits of an eBay Storefront?
As the most popular online auction site in the world, eBay offers a number of solutions for businesses or individuals who sell a large number of items. The most comprehensive of these offerings is an eBay Store. Stores come with selling and promotional tools that help sellers track and market their items, as well as discounts on listing fees.
-
Basics
-
Store privileges are offered on a subscription basis, paid monthly. Basic, premium and anchor are the three levels. Each offers discounts on listing fees, free photos and basic reporting on user statistics, such as page views. The premium level includes access to more online tools and the anchor level, the most-expensive level, offers the most robust tools and lowest fees.
Requirements
-
To open an eBay Store, you must have a valid eBay account in good standing, a credit card on file and a Verified Premier PayPal account. There are performance-rating requirements for premium and anchor level stores.

Levels
-
The number of items you sell determines the most appropriate store level. The eBay Fee Illustrator allows you to determine which subscription level -- basic, premium or anchor -- is best for you. In most cases, basic is appropriate for new sellers or sellers who primarily use the auction-style format; premium is best for, according to eBay, “…small- to medium-sized sellers who want to aggressively grow their online business…”; and anchor stores are a good choice for established sellers who want the maximum available exposure.
Other Benefits
-
Stores are given a personalized URL address, which makes it easier for sellers to promote their store. On the page, stores can cross-promote other, related items, showing users other listings when they view the store or an individual item’s page. Depending on the level, stores can also come with a markdown tool, enabling sellers to run and track sales easily, and an email marketing tool to send messages to users who subscribe to a store’s mailing list. Stores are also listed in an eBay directory, and anchor stores can be featured multiple places on the eBay site, including the homepage.
