On average, helicopter training programs for pilots can be costly. The cost of equipment and supervised training can generate thousands of dollars in student loans and debt. The Aircraft Electronics Association was founded in 1956 as a professional organization of aviation businesses, manufacturers, and educational institutions. The AEA offers scholarships and grants ranging from $500 to $35,000 for students in aviation, as well as those training for helicopter careers. Applicants are required to submit official transcripts from their helicopter training program and a 300-word essay describing their goals as an aviation professional.
University Aviation Association

The University Aviation Association promotes communication among aviation training programs and enhances their curricula. The association offers The Excellence in Aviation Scholarship, which was named in memory of Joseph Frasca. The scholarship offers two $2,000 awards to applicants enrolled in aviation training programs with a GPA of 3.0 or better in a certified aviation extracurricular program. To apply for UAA grant funding, the applicant must attend a UAA member institution.

The Aero Club of New England offers grant funding for students training for various aviation careers, including helicopter specialists. The Aero Club of New England provides several grants financed by donations from ACONE members that are available for students in the region 16 years or older. To apply, helicopter pilot applicants are required to have at least 100 hours of flight time.

The Advanced Mountain Flight Training Scholarship provides funding for certified terrain training in mountainous areas, which includes a half day of ground school and five hours of flight time.
