Mozilla’s Firefox Internet browser allows you to replace the default header and footer bars with images or color bars. The Persona plug-in makes changing the background of these static bars a quick, painless task. Choose from thousands of free, pre-designed themes available on the getpersonas.com website or design custom themes with your graphics editor.

Persona Plug-in

The first step to using Personas is downloading the plug-in. Personas is a small application that takes only a few minutes to download on your computer. Click the “Get Personas” button on the website, and the plug-in downloads and installs automatically. Unlike installing themes, you don't have to close your browser or reboot your computer to activate the plug-in capability.
Previewing and Installing Personas

Once the plug-in is installed, you can preview any of the predefined Persona themes by moving your mouse pointer over the thumbnail view of any available Personas. Depending on the speed of your Internet connection and the complexity of the graphic file, the selected theme displays on your browser’s header and footer bar in a few seconds to up to a minute. When you find a Persona you like, click the “Wear It” button to download and save it to your computer.

Changing Personas

Download and install as many Personas as you like. When you decide to change the look of your browser, click the small fox head icon in the browser’s footer bar. Your downloaded Personas are sorted in a number of categories to simplify finding new or favorite files. Click the file name, and the new Persona replaces the current one immediately and remains the default until you change it again.
Customization

For the do-it-yourself type, simple instructions to create your own Persona files are available on the getpersonas.com site. You will need a graphics editor with the ability to create and edit JPG or PNG format image files. Header images need to be 3,000 pixels wide and 200 pixels tall. Footer images need to be 3,000 pixels wide and 100 pixels tall. If you come up with a design that you would like to share with others, you can add your custom Persona file to the site’s free gallery.
