Longbow VS. Shortbow in Runescape

Longbows and shortbows are among the prime weapons that "RuneScape" players use to slay their enemies. Many different types of bow are available that vary in terms of the elements they are constructed from, the amount of damage they do and the amount of ranged skill that you must possess to use them. Each type of bow is available in longbow and shortbow varieties that perform slightly differently.

  1. Range

    • A significant difference exists between the effective range at which you can shoot with a longbow and a shortbow. If you have a longbow and a shortbow composed of the same material, you'll find that the longbow has a greater maximum range than the shortbow. The maximum range that you can shoot also varies based on the material the bow is constructed from.

    Speed

    • The disadvantage to using a shortbow is its relative lack of maximum shooting distance. On the other hand, the shortbow version of a given bow type can shoot at a faster rate than the corresponding longbow.

    Level Requirements

    • Nineteen types of bow are available in the "RuneScape" world, ranging from humble bows made of oak to the rare and powerful crystal bow. You much reach a prerequisite level of ranged skill before you can move up to each new type of bow. Although the required range level varies by bow material type, the level requirements are the same for each bow type's longbow and shortbow varieties.

    Hand Requirements

    • "RuneScape" considers both longbows and shortbows to be two-handed weapons, a historically accurate perspective. Thus you cannot wield another weapon while you have a bow equipped, nor can you hold a shield.
