Responsibilities of the Hostess at a Bridal Shower
Hosting a bridal shower is a big responsibility. The hostess has a lot to plan for while making it an enjoyable experience for the bride as well as the guests. Some women choose to co-host the party, sharing responsibilities while making it easier on their wallets. Every shower should include games, gifts and of course food. Plan a party that the bride will look back on with happy memories for years to come. Does this Spark an idea?

Inviting
-
The first responsibility of the hostess of a bridal shower party is to put together a list of guests, including the bride's mother, the groom's mother, family, friends and co-workers the bride is close with. Buy enough invitations or make your own for a more personalized touch. Get a list of emails and addresses from the bride to send the invitations out. Pick a date that is at least a month before the wedding and works with everyone's schedules.
Planning
-
Decide on a place to throw the shower. If the guest list is small and you are on a budget, throw the shower in your own home. This will make the shower more comfortable and inviting to the guests. Plan out games to play such as trivia about the bride, guessing how many grains of rice are in a jar and wedding bingo. Be as creative as you can be and give out prizes for the winners.

Decorations
-
Decorating your home or rented space for the party is important. The theme can match the wedding or season or it can be a classic shower with a silver and white theme. Streamers, balloons, a couple of banners and some small decorations such as paper wedding bells are usually hung around the room. Make a picture collage of the bride through the years on a poster board and display it near where the bride will be seated.
Food
-
A buffet or small menu of items should always be served at a shower. Finger sandwiches, chips, a cheese plate, veggies and dip are shower staples. Some showers serve hot food such as pasta, burgers, and beef on weck if the budget allows. Buy a cake designed for the shower with a picture of wedding bells, rings, or just "Congratulations" to serve for dessert. If you feel comfortable and capable in the kitchen, bake cupcakes instead and decorate them with the same colors as the shower. Don't forget the plates and silverware; the guests will need something to eat off of. Paper plates and plastic silverware are the best bet for a small party and leave less mess.
