Kickboxing Ideas for Birthday Cards

Create a card tailored to a kickboxing aficionado.

Kickboxing is a sport combining elements of martial arts with boxing moves. For a kickboxing aficionado, send him a birthday card reflecting his hobby. Instead of scouring the greeting card stores to find the perfect card, make one yourself and customize it for the recipient.

  1. Silhouette

    • Create a kickboxing-themed card in the silhouette of a person high-kicking. Trace the silhouette on a piece of paper folded in half, with the image abutting the fold. Cut out the image, leaving at lease part of the fold intact. Inside the card write, "Have a kicking good birthday!" To further personalize the card, tape a photograph of the recipient's face to the top of the silhouette on the front of the card where the shape's face would be.

    Boxing Glove

    • Create a pop-up card with a boxing glove to refer to this often-used piece of kickboxing equipment. Cut out a photograph of the front of a boxing glove and glue it to an accordion-folded piece of paper. Tape or glue the other end of the accordion-folded paper to the inside of a piece of folded card stock. Press the boxing glove picture flat, and hold it in place while you write the greeting inside the card. "Hope your birthday is a knockout!" is an example of good writing. Close the card and write "Happy Birthday" on the front. When the recipient opens the card, the accordion-folded paper with the boxing glove at the end will pop out.

    Kicking Card

    • Make a moving card with a kicking leg out of a photograph of the birthday card recipient. Cut out a photograph of the person taken from the side profile while he is in mid-kick. Cut the outer leg off the outline and poke a small hole in the top of the leg near the hip. Poke another hole in the hip on the photograph where the leg attaches. Glue the picture to the front of a card and attach the outer leg with a brad inserted through the hole at the top of the leg and through the hole in the hip. Push the brad through until the legs punch through to the other side of the card. Open the legs to secure the brad. The leg should move back and forth freely as though kicking. Write "Happy Birthday, Kickboxing King (or Queen)."

    Gift Card Holder

    • Create a birthday card to hold a gift card or certificate for a free kickboxing class or for a sporting goods store to purchase more equipment. Fold a piece of card stock in half. On the front, write "Happy Birthday!" and on the inside top, and write "Here's a little something for a kicking good birthday!" Tape a piece of paper 1 inch on all sides wider and half the length of the gift card or certificate. Tape the bottom edge and two sides of this paper on the bottom half of the inside of the birthday card to create a pouch. Insert the gift card or certificate into the open top of the pouch.
