Activities for Couples to Meet Other People
Even if you and your partner have your own friends, finding other couples to do things with requires some effort. Whether you are in a new relationship, moving to a new area or recently developed an interest in socializing with other people, there are many reasons yo might want to create new friendships. Talk to your partner about what kind of friends you want to develop and how much time you have for activities. Once you agree on what you want, seem out the types of people who might provide satisfying relationships.

Spiritual
-
Attend religious services to meet other people who share similar beliefs. Contact your church, synagogue or other spiritual organization and ask if they provide group or couple activities, such as retreats, services or study groups for couples. Inquire about state or regional activities or consider volunteering to help form an activity group for couples.
Volunteer
-
Contact local agencies or an organization that helps match your interests to local volunteer needs, such as Volunteer Match. Working to help others with nonprofit organizations or community programs helps your community and gives you opportunities to spend time with other people. Participating in a political organization of your choice helps you to meet people with common views on government. Although not specifically couples-oriented, you might find other couples to work with on projects or campaigns. Political activism groups give you an opportunity to work toward goals you care about and find other people with shared commitments.

Join an activity-oriented group, such as a motorcycle club. Go to local conventions or events that interest both of you. For example, you might enjoy dressing up like your favorite comic book character and attending a science fiction convention. Or you might consider joining a bowling league or learning the tango. All let you participate in activities you enjoy while also getting the chance to meet other people. You also can contact community recreation centers and colleges for courses. Some colleges offer classes, such as Southeast Missouri State University’s “Boot Scootin’ Country Swing,” where you can learn new dance steps and meet other couples.
Organizations

Events for couples only, such as wine and cheese tasting parties, vacations and cruises, offer opportunities to participate in activities with other people. Get to know your neighbors by organizing a block party, barbecue or dinner. Advertise in your local paper to form a book club.
