Can Google eBooks Work on the Nook?
Google eBooks offers millions of free eBooks and digitized books, as well as hundreds of thousands for sale. Google eBooks are available online through the Google eBook store or more than 300 independent bookstores, listed at Indiebound.org/google-ebooks. You can easily transfer eBooks from the Google Bookstore to the Nook and other eReaders and devices after you install Adobe Digital Editions to manage DRM-protected eBooks. You do not need specialized software to add free eBooks in the public domain to your Nook.

Adobe Digital Editions
-
You'll need the Adobe Digital Editions software on your computer to load Google eBooks that are not in the public domain on your Nook. This free software organizes and manages digital rights management (DRM) protected eBooks; once the Nook is connected to your computer, you can load books directly to it within the program. You'll need an Adobe ID, which is a free account that identifies you as the book's owner and allows you to share your DRM-protected books with your other devices and computers.
Downloading Google eBooks
-
Once you've downloaded Adobe Digital Editions and set up your Adobe ID, go to your Google Books library to view your purchased eBooks. Select a book to open it in your browser. In the upper right corner, click the "i" button to see the "About This Book" menu. Click the "Read on your device" link, which will take you to a page that displays various options. Scroll to the bottom, and select either "Download EPUB" or "Download PDF." Both formats are supported on the Nook. Input the security code as required, and click "Submit" to begin the download. This will download the book as an ACSM file; open it with Adobe Digital Editions. This will add the book to your bookshelf under "All Items."

Loading Books to Your Nook
-
Connect your Nook to your computer via USB, and open Adobe Digital Editions. It should prompt you to authorize your device; follow the prompts to authorize the Nook. Once the Nook is authorized, it will be listed under your bookshelf in Adobe Digital Editions. Select the downloaded book from your Library, drag it over to the Nook, and drop it in. This will add the book to your device. Once you're done, close the program and eject your Nook from your computer.
Free eBooks
-
Managing your free public domain eBooks from Google Books is a little easier than managing purchased books. Not all free books are available for download; only books that were free through the public domain can be downloaded. Free eBooks do not have any DRM and do not require special software to download or transfer them to your Nook. Instead you can transfer these files to your Nook using the USB cable and your regular file manager.
