Curb Appeal Grants

Community beautification programs exist to aid communities in enhancing their overall appearance. Funding for beautification projects generally range from $2,000 to $10,000. Some funding sources may have a cash matching requirement. Most grants are limited to public and nonprofit organizations.

  1. California

    • The CB Grant Program in partnership with hundreds of neighborhood groups has completed more than 1,032 community projects and has kindled several revitalization projects citywide. Funding for the CB Grant Program is provided by the City of Los Angeles’ budget. The program is allotted $845,000 and awards roughly 90 grants per year of up to $10,000. Because the CB Grant Program receives about 200 applications each year, applicants have about a 45 percent chance of their application being funded.

    Iowa Grants

    • The purpose of the KIB Grant Program is to support volunteer efforts, better utilize local dollars, and aid communities that have a desire to improve the look and image of their neighborhood. Community beautification involves litter reduction, recycling, public nuisance reduction and creation or improvement of green spaces.

    Texas Curb Appeal Grants

    • The Go TEXAN Rural Community Beautification Program, assist rural communities in funding downtown beautification projects by providing one-time matching funds. Through the use of planters, benches, decorative light poles and/or decorative flags, the beautification program aims to enhance the appearance of downtown areas. Communities can also use these funds to purchase community welcome sign(s) for main roads leading into the community. Applicants for this program should be a city or county government that is a Go Texan Rural Community certified member. To receive matching funds, applicants must incur all expenses then submit documentation showing that the merchandise or services have been paid in full.

    Ohio beautification grant

    • Grant proposals are being accepted by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for communities that aim to improve local environments through beautification, litter prevention, and waste reduction. The ODNR awards up to $2,000 for cleanup efforts that include volunteer workers. Last year, ODNR awarded 83 grants totaling $155,015 and created approximately $1.1 million worth of volunteer hours and nearly $240,000 in goods, service, and private donations. There are no cash-matching requirements and applicants are encouraged to seek in-kind and additional financial contributions.
