The NextGen Gallery is a free WordPress plugin that takes the place of the default gallery and image handling features included in the script. The NextGen Gallery plugin follows the same installation procedure as most WordPress plugins. The NextGen Gallery folder gets uploaded to your "wp-content/plugins" folder and activated through the WordPress backend. NextGen Gallery uses a post tag to display the galleries within your blog post. The codes "[nggallery id=x]" and "[slideshow id=x]" display NextGen galleries on WordPress.
