Ideas for Scrabble Tile Crafts
Scrabble tiles are most often associated with intense bouts of thinking, accusations of making up words, and triple word scores, but they also make excellent craft materials. Perfect for lovers of books and quirky crafts alike, Scrabble tile crafts are typically easy to create. They can focus on the simplicity of a single letter, or tiles can be grouped to spell out words. More complicated crafts simply use the Scrabble tiles' sturdy construction and pendant shape as a form on which to build. Scrabble tile crafts are a handy way to use up tiles in incomplete Scrabble sets with irritating missing pieces.

Alphabet Magnets
-
Scrabble tiles are easy to transform into magnets, which can be used to spell out words and phrases on everything from refrigerators to metal doors. Simply hot glue a magnet, either round or cut to size from a magnet strip, to the back of each tile. Because Scrabble tiles are small and could be swallowed, these magnets are not an appropriate substitution for children's alphabet magnets.
Monogram Jewelry
-
Scrabble tiles make excellent monogram jewelry, from necklace pendants to earrings. For necklaces, earrings and bracelets, drill a hole in the top of the tile -- just above the letter -- and mount it on a chain or dangling earring forms. For rings, hot glue a Scrabble tile to a blank ring form. You can also use this technique to spell out a name on a necklace or bracelet. These monogram jewelry pieces make unusual personalized gifts.

Pendant
-
Use the Scrabble tile as a form to create a necklace pendant. Glue a cut-to-size piece of pretty paper to the Scrabble tile using diamond glaze adhesive. Let it dry, then paint on extra diamond glaze to create a glossy, raised appearance. Allow it to dry again, then attach a small metal hook so the pendant can be suspended from a set of earrings or a chain. These pendants are quick and easy to make and have almost infinite potential for variety.
Scrabble Art
-
Use Scrabble tiles, paired with an old Scrabble board, to create one-of-a-kind art to commemorate an occasion or simply for a mind-bending craft. Use letters to spell out important phrases or words -- intersecting where possible -- then glue them in the arrangement to the board. Display on a wall.
Scrabble Coasters
-
Glue Scrabble letters together -- at random, or to spell out words -- to form one-of-a-kind coasters. Use a piece of cardboard or cork, cut to the desired size, as the base. Hot glue the tiles to the base one at a time, working carefully to ensure they don't slide apart or gap. Finish with a decoupage medium, if desired.
