Systems Compatible With Skype
Skype is compatible with both Mac and PC computer systems. Skype requires that a computer have certain minimum specifications before the newest version of Skype can be downloaded. Skype can also be installed in its mobile version on some cell phones, including certain Android and BlackBerry models.

Skype for Mac

Skype for Mac requires Mac OS X v10.5.8 — Leopard — or newer, 1GHz Intel processor and 100MB of free disk space. Newer Mac computers have a built-in webcam and microphone that are compatible with Skype. An older Mac may require an external webcam and microphone to use Skype.
Skype for PC

Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 is required for Skype on a PC. A built-in or external microphone is necessary for voice calling, as well as a webcam for video calling.

Skype Internet Requirements

A broadband Internet connection is recommended to meet the minimum bandwidth requirements for Skype calls. A bandwidth speed of at least 100kbps download / 100kbps upload is suggested for basic voice calling. Skype recommends a bandwidth speed of 300kbps download / 300kbps upload for two-person video calls.
Skype Mobile

Visit the Skype Mobile website for a current list of phones that are compatible. Skype can be downloaded on the iPhone, certain Android, BlackBerry, Samsung and Verizon 3G smart phones. Skype mobile can be downloaded on your cell phone's browser and through mobile app sites like Android Market and the App Store.
