Team-building sessions will help with the development of your sales staff.

Prospecting is a business practice that teaches employees how to find and evaluate potential customers. Sales is an important factor to many companies and these organizations must ensure that they have a steady stream of new customers to continue growing. When prospecting, a company is looking to better understand its potential customers and create new ways to get them to purchase its product or service. Management groups use team builders to show employees how to prospect.

  1. Role Playing

    • Role playing is a team-building practice used to teach new and experienced employees how to prospect. During these training sessions, one employee will act as the prospective customer while the other employee will act as the salesperson. These sessions are used to teach employees how to deal with various types of customers and different ways to close the sale. After the training sessions are complete, a manager or session leader will present ideas on how to deal with these types of customers while giving constructive feedback to all those who participated.

    On-Site Training

    • On-site team training is another option when teaching staff members how to prospect. During these sessions, a new salesperson is paired with an experienced sales person. Together, they will work a selected area to reach out to potential customers. The seasoned veteran will lead most of the interactions until the new employee is willing to speak to the customers as well. These team-building practices are used to give the new employee an opportunity to learn from an experienced individual by watching him in action.

    Online Training

    • Many organizations offer webinars focused on the development of sales employees. During these online sessions, employees can ask questions to experts who have been working in the sales industry for years. One important benefit of using webinars is that many are taped sessions and allow employees to view the lesson multiple times. A manager can hold a group meeting around the showing of a webinar, then lead a conversation about the discussion.

    Sales Seminars

    • Seminars are networking sessions that allow people from various industries to come together and trade secrets and contacts. Sales personnel can benefit from attending these sessions because they will be able to interact with people who have a vast amount of experience in the industry. Employers can send groups of employees to these sessions and assign them to work together while attending the same sessions. These groups would then be charged with bringing full reports back to the entire company to further spread the new information.
