Pretty Costume Ideas for Teen Girls
Teen girls are generally attracted to beautiful, elegant and glamorous costumes for parties and other events. Women in television, movies and magazines often dress sexily, which influences inappropriate and immodest attire in young girls. Teens doing so may attract unwanted attention, receive an undesirable reputation or be placed in an inappropriate sexual situation. Age-appropriate, exquisite outfits are preferred ideas for projecting a positive image at costumed events.

Royalty
-
A queen or princess costume is an elegant choice. Disney princess costumes, such as Rapunzel or Sleeping Beauty, represent nostalgic childhood costumes. To add a more adult element, choose Queen Cleopatra, Queen Elizabeth, or more generic versions, like a Renaissance queen, Egyptian royalty or an Indian princess. Inexpensive additions to a princess costume can be found at thrift stores, with a prom dress that is accessorized with a tiara and large costume jewelry.
Wings
-
Incorporate bright colors, exotic makeup, body glitter and wings to transform into a beautiful fairy or pixie, like Tinker Bell. Combine a brightly-colored skirt, shirt and tights and add wings. Bend craft wire into a wing shape, then stretch one leg each of a pair of pantyhose around each wing wire, securing with knots. Use colorful hairspray or spray paint, glitter, rhinestones and sparkly embellishments to decorate the wings. Apply dramatic makeup and powdered glitter to the hair and skin, then add a tiara, magic wand or similar accessories.

Angel
-
White, gauzy, lightweight fabric is ideal for a heavenly angel. Purchase a white robe from a costume shop or wear a long white skirt with a white blouse. Form wings from 18-gauge wire, stretch one leg each of white pantyhose over each side, securing with a tied know. Decorate the wings with golden hairspray or glitter. Purchase small faux gemstones from a craft store and use fabric glue to secure them to the edges of each wing. Purchase a halo from a costume shop or craft one with wire by wrapping it in gold ribbon. Finish the look with white glittery makeup.
Television and Movies
-
Dress up as Dorothy Gale, Minnie Mouse, Alice in Wonderland, Hannah Montana or another favorite, recognizable television or movie character. Buttercup from "The Princess Bride," Gisele from "Enchanted," or Elizabeth Swan from "The Pirates of the Carribbean" are other pretty choices. Or, portray a generic movie star on the red carpet by donning a glamorous dress, fixing hair in curls or an up-do, and adding sparkly jewelry, elbow-length gloves, dramatic make-up and high heels.
