Photo Editors That Can Whiten Your Teeth
You can improve any photograph with judicious editing. As well as erasing blemishes, removing unwanted shadows and correcting colors, photo editing software lets you fix yellow or dull-looking teeth to give your subjects dazzling white smiles. You can do this manually, by selecting the area you want to fix and adjusting the hue and saturation. Many photo editors now have a special brush you can use to whiten smiles at a stroke.

Whiten Teeth Manually in Photoshop
-
Even if there is no specific teeth-whitening function in your software, you can whiten teeth manually. You can use Photoshop and similar packages such as GIMP to whiten teeth in your photographs. Open the image you want to edit and zoom in on the subject's smile. Select the teeth using the lasso tool, making sure you include all of the area that you want to whiten. Create a new layer to make your adjustments in. Reduce the saturation of the yellows in the selected area, then increase the overall lightness of the selection to whiten and brighten the subject's teeth.
Photoshop Elements
-
Whitening teeth manually takes practice before it comes easily. Image editing suites aimed at hobbyists rather than professionals often include tools that make common touchup jobs, such as fixing red-eye or whitening teeth, much easier. One example is Photoshop Elements, which includes an array of touchup tools in its Quick Fix panel. Just click the Whiten Teeth button, which looks like a toothbrush, and drag it over the teeth that you want to brighten.

Online Photo Editors
-
Many online photo editors now include a tool to fix yellow teeth. Examples are Pixenate and Picnik, which lets you import images from your Flickr account if you're a Flickr user. To whiten teeth in Pixenate, upload the image you want to work on and click the Whitening tool -- the smiling mouth icon. Select the area you want to whiten and click "apply." To whiten teeth in Picnik, open the Touch-Up menu and select the Teeth Whiten option. Choose the brush size you want, then click and drag over the teeth to whiten and brighten them.
Downloadable Free Software
-
Some free software packages now boast a teeth whitening tool. One example is Amazifier. You can download the free version of Amazifier from the homepage, amazifier.com, and install it on your computer. This software comes in free and commercial versions, both of which have a Touch-Up Suite. This includes tools to fix imperfections, such as blemishes and yellow teeth. You can also find dedicated teeth whitening software for download, such as the free Teeth Whitener 2.
