Handmade Card Layout
No matter what the occasion, a handmade card can be a thoughtful and inexpensive way to show a loved one how much you care. There are a variety of layouts to choose from if you plan to embark on a homemade card project, so you will want to do some preliminary planning and weigh your options before you begin constructing your card.

Materials

The materials you use to create your card influence the rest of the layout. Take inventory of what you have, as well as items you need to complete the project. You can use materials such as plain notebook or computer paper, recycled cardboard or favorite photographs to make the base of your card. Decorations can be as simple as drawings from a ballpoint pen or as complex as embellishments of glitter or stickers.

Cards usually come in two main shapes: rectangles and squares. They may be folded in half, in quarters, or not at all. Sometimes they include pockets for money, and sometimes they have interactive features. You can fold your paper to employ one of these traditional structures; folding it in half or in quarters results in a card that has a front for a greeting or image, as well as an inside space for a message and signature. Meanwhile, an unfolded card allows you to write the entire message on just the front, or to use the front side for decorating and the backside for the message. Instead of using a traditional square or rectangular card, consider creating an original card shape.

The beauty of a handmade card is that you have maximum creative flexibility for design. design. For instance, you could decorate your card with personal images using a collage of printed or cutup photographs, or you could draw or paint your own artwork. Although images usually appear on the front of the card, you can place them anywhere you want.
Messages

Traditional card layouts include a message that explains why you are giving the card to the recipient. Depending on how you structure your card, there are several ways you can display a creative message. Begin the message or greeting on the front of the card, or write the entire text on the inside of a folded card or the back of an unfolded one. Decide whether you want your greeting to be humorous or professional, and then either type or write your message by hand.
