Printers That Work With Citrix Web Client
Citrix Systems, Inc. provides cloud-computing services to enable employees to work away from an office using virtual desktops and networks. Since it works in the cloud, software and print drivers are loaded to a local computer when the user connects to the network. By using features provided by Citrix, a user can print to any printer available after setting up certain features.

Auto Creating Printers
-
This feature creates a list of local printers the user can access and saves the list for each log in. Print drivers for the printers found are loaded locally from the Citrix network using an application called XenApp. There are two types of printer lists available to users.
Client Device
-
When logging in, XenApp sees and makes available for use all printers currently installed on the computer. These could be local printers attached to the computer or network printers that would normally be available to the user when not logged into Citrix. Simply log into to work and any printers you would normally use are available. The first printer recognized, however, will become the default printer. The user can then change to a different printer using the printer settings on the computer.

Citrix Universal Printer
-
The universal printer function creates a generic print driver that talks to any printer attached or networked to the user's computer. This function keeps the same name each time a user logs in. The client device settings may change the printer names when loading and the default printer may change at each log in. It also saves time since only the universal printer settings load when connecting, instead of a potentially long list of printers.
Troubleshooting
-
Do not use third party print drivers and stick to drivers designed to work with specified printers. Free downloads are readily available from all major print manufacturers websites. Use only Version-3 print drivers and native Windows 2000 or 2003 operating system drivers. Version-3 allows the user to use more printer functions and, if a job stalls, the server does not have to be re-started. The job is deleted from the print list and re-sent to the printer.
