Skype Suddenly Won't Let Me On
Skype is a free way to keep in touch with your friends through instant messaging, voice chat and video chat. There are multiple reasons you may be unable to sign in to Skype, including a slow Internet connection, but there are ways to troubleshoot technical problems to help you sign in to your account.
-
Login
-
Double-check that your user name and password are entered correctly. If you forgot your user name or password, Skype (skype.com) can remind you of it. On the sign-in screen, click "Problems signing in?" A new screen opens where you can enter your email address to get your password, or click "Forgotten your email address?" if you forgot which email you used to set up your account. Also, the computer may think you're logged in even if you're not. Press "Ctrl," "Alt" and "Delete" and click "Task Manager." Click the "Processes" tab; click "Skype.exe" and "SkypePM.exe" and click "End Process" and then "Yes" for each. Restart Skype and log in.
Internet Connection
-
If you have problems signing in to Skype, there could be a problem with your Internet connection. If you have a low Internet signal, try to find a faster one or unplug your modem for about 30 seconds and plug it back in to restart your connection. Close any applications or websites that could be using too much bandwidth and preventing you from signing in to Skype.

Slow Computer
-
Close any programs that may be making your computer run slowly, such as file downloads. If you're using a laptop, plug it into a power source to prevent the computer from going into power-saving mode. Verify that your computer has the minimum requirements to run Skype. Navigate to the Skype homepage and click "Support" at the top. Type "system requirements" into the search box and click "What are the system requirements for running Skype?" to view the system requirements.
Latest Version
-
If you can't solve the problem and Skype still doesn't let you sign in, uninstall Skype and install the newest version. Download the most updated version of Skype, which may have updates that will prevent this problem from occurring in the future. Navigate to Skype's homepage, place the cursor over "Get Skype," and then click "Windows" or "Mac" depending on the type of computer you own to download the newest version of Skype.
