Ideas for a Scooby-Doo! Baby Shower
Scooby-Doo may not be the most conventional theme for a baby shower, but if either the mom or dad-to-be is a huge fan of the 1970s Hanna-Barbera animated cult favorite (or the subsequent film adaptations), it can be a clever and unique concept. It will take some planning and creativity to pull off this out-of-the-box idea, but it is sure to be a shower that everyone will remember, especially the expectant parents. Does this Spark an idea?

Invitations
-
Baby shower invitations can be handmade using brown Kraft card stock that has been cut into the shape of a dog biscuit. One one side, adapt one of the cartoon's signature catchphrases to announce the shower. For example, write "Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!" and underneath that, the reply of "At Linda's Baby Shower --- hoping you will be too!" On the flip side, write the pertinent party details. Use a rubber stamp with paw prints on the mailing envelopes to keep with the theme.
Mystery Shower
-
Since Scooby-Doo and the gang were always involved in solving mysteries, host a mystery-themed baby shower. Mystery party games are available in a choice of scenarios that can have guests solve a murder, find a missing person or locate missing items. Games include all necessary instructions for acting out and solving the mystery and are available in retail party stores or as online downloads.
Choose your mystery theme based on your party space, number of guests and time constraints. Use props and decorations to set the scene for the mystery portion of the shower and group guests into teams to have them solve the mystery. Swap some of the character names provided in the game with the characters from Scooby-Doo and select guests to play the parts of Scooby, Shaggy, Daphne, Velma and Fred. Alert guests ahead of time of their character assignments; this will better enable them to bring props or dress like their character.

Decorations
-
Mix and match mystery-themed decorations with solid-colored ones, such as streamers, balloons and paper goods. Match the Scooby-Doo color scheme of lime green, orange, purple, brown and aqua. Purchase commercial Scooby-Doo party goods (either from retail party stores or online) that depict the whole gang and the "Mystery Machine" or create your own decorations using computer printed images of the cast. Make dog-shaped cutouts of Scooby using brown poster board and a printable coloring page as a guide. Add face and body details with colored markers or pieces of felt.
Wishing Well
-
They Mystery Machine can be replicated and used for the wishing well. Create a wishing well resembling the "Mystery Machine." Use online images of the famous van to reproduce the color scheme and decor on a large cardboard box with an open top. Wheels for the van can be painted directly on the box or fashioned out of cardboard circles that have been painted black and lime green. Include additional details such as the orange "Flower Power" flowers on the van and the wheels. Have guests place their wishing well gifts directly into the "van" as they arrive at the shower.
Food and Cake
-
Serve a sheet cake depicting the cast of the Scooby-Doo TV show and movies. Add "Scooby Snacks" to the dessert; these are commercial dog biscuit-shaped cookies available in grocery stores. Alternatively, if you enjoy baking, make your own version. Other food ideas include serving sandwiches, one of Scooby's favorite foods, or having a selection of foods cut into biscuit shapes to represent "Scooby Snacks."
Activities
-
Adapt traditional baby shower games to tie them in with this not-so-traditional theme. For instance, if playing Baby Shower Bingo, have players yell out "Scooby Dooby Doo!" rather than "Bingo!" when they win.
A scavenger hunt also fits into the "mystery" theme. Hide different baby-themed items throughout the party space and give guests clues to finding them. Rattles, bibs, toys and pacifiers are a few ideas of things to hide. At the end of the shower, the mom-to-be gets to keep the "found" items.
