Vertical Scroll WordPress Plugins

Add some dynamic content to your WordPress site with a vertical scroll plugin.

A number of vertical scroll plugins are available for WordPress, which help display your content and navigation in a more novel and dynamic way than simply having static content on your page. They help make your site feel more "current," as though the content being scrolled is breaking news. To install all these plugins, log in to your admin area then go to "Plugins," click on "Add New" and search for the plugin's title. When you find it in the results, click "Install Now," followed by "Activate Plugin."

  1. Vertical Scroll Recent Registered User

    • This plugin is used in WordPress sites that have a lot of users subscribing to the site through the Wordpress system, as opposed to the RSS feed. Examples are paid membership sites, sites in which only registered users can comment and sites with exclusive content in certain areas of the site. The plugin displays a scrolling list of recent user names, along with their avatar and the date that they registered.

    Vertical Scroll Image Slideshow Gallery

    • Most image slideshows slide from left to right, so you can make your site stand out with a vertical scrolling image gallery. The new image pushes the old one out of view from the bottom up, and the images are taken from a specialized folder to make the slider simple to update. The speed of the slider can be customized and the order that files are shown is determined by their upload date.

    Vertical Recent Posts

    • A recent posts widget is very common among WordPress blogs. It is particularly useful in blogs where fresh content is generated regularly, as it allows users to check back over the last few posts to make sure they didn't miss anything. This sidebar widget plugin displays a vertically scrolling list of of the most recent posts on your blog. Not only does this add novelty to your site, but it allows you to display longer lists of posts without taking up too much sidebar space.

    News Announcement Scroll

    • Sometimes bloggers want to make an announcement, but don't want to make a new post for this purpose. Perhaps they want to leave a certain post on the front page, or perhaps they make a lot of announcements and don't want to clog up their archive. The News Announcement Scroll could be a solution -- a scrolling list of short announcements is displayed, each of which is defined from text boxes in the plugin's configuration panel, rather than the main blog index.
