Kids Room Decor You Can Make
Choosing to make your own decorations for your child's room is a great way to save money and let your creative juices flow. Hand Print Border

Use painting tape and section a top and bottom section on the wall. The area between these two sections will be where the hand print border will go. Choose your color or even colors of paint. Use your hand or your child's hand for the border. Stir your paint and then pour a small amount into a painter's tray. Apply paint to your hand with a small sponge or paintbrush. Let the excess drip off. Place your hand prints on the wall. You should need more paint for every two handprints that you make.
Picture Mobile

Save space on your kids bookshelves for books and create a picture mobile. Find a circular, hollow, piece either made or wood or metal at you local crafts store. Tie the two ends of a piece of ribbon to the circular piece, this ribbon will be used to hang your mobile. Use the same ribbon to cut a series of pieces anywhere from 6 to 8 inches in length. Vary the lengths so that all picture will be visible. Choose a series of pictures and use a hole punch to make a very small hole. Tie one end of a ribbon piece to the picture and tie the other end to the mobile.

T-Shirt Memory Board

Choose an old T-shirt of your child's that holds significance, such as a sports jersey. Cut a piece of cardboard into a T-shirt shape. Cut pieces of cork in the same shape as the cardboard. Either glue the cork to the cardboard or use double sided tape. Cut the side of the shirt that will not be on display down the middle. Pull the T-shirt so that it is taught and wrinkly free around the cork. Use tacks and pins to affix it. Hang the shirt on the wall. Tack pictures or ribbons to the shirt for display.
Stencils

Use stencils to cover a section of a wall or the walls of your child's room in shapes. Tape the stencil to the wall, apply the paint and let dry before you remove the stencil. Apply stencils to a single color lampshade. Tape the stencils to the lampshade and paint with a color that is sure to stick out. Stencils can also be used on furniture such as desks, bookcases, and even headboards.
