  1. Indianapolis Zoo

    • The Indianapolis zoo is located in downtown and originally opened in 1964. This zoo features many animals well known to young children, such as dolphins, seals, penguins and elephants. 2-year-old children will also enjoy viewing the variety of unique plants life showcased at this zoo. The Indy Zoo offers a special program geared toward toddlers called, Animal Crackers.

    Garfield Park Conservatory and Sunken Garden

    • During the summer, this garden offers three acres of gardens, walking paths and splashing fountains. At any time of the year, the conservatory offers a rainforest enclosed in a glass greenhouse. Plants that young children are familiar with can be viewed in the conservatory -- such as vanilla bean, cacao and coffee. Toddlers who visit the conservatory will also have the opportunity to observe the many frogs and birds that have made the conservatory their home.

    Children's Museum of Indianapolis

    • The Children's Museum of Indianapolis is the largest children's museum in the world. Young children who are interested in dinosaurs can tour the dinosaur exhibit or the other toddler friendly attractions at the children's museum.

    Waterman's Farm Market

    • Waterman's Farm Market is home to a pumpkin patch during the fall months. During the summer, 2-year-old children can tour the strawberry patch at the garden. Two-year-olds can visit this farm to learn how the food they eat grows and they can harvest their own vegetables to take home. The Waterman Farm Market is not open year round. Call before taking a visit to the farm to make sure it is open.
