Job Description of a Creative Resource Coordinator

A creative resource coordinator can be known by various names, such as a creative resources manager, a creative administrator or a creative services manager. These jobs usually exist within an advertising agency, publishers or media outlet where there are large numbers of people working in the creative area such as copywriters, advertising creatives, writers, graphic artists and designers.

  1. Coordinate

    • It is the job of the creative resource coordinator to coordinate all aspects of the creative or production process. They must work with the creative process from beginning to end and must ensure the creative and production departments are working together. They need to know the needs and timeframes of sales staff and the resources available to accomplish tasks at any one time.

    Connect

    • The creative resource coordinator must connect with all areas of the business unit to make sure they have an overall view of the business. They must know the clients and client database, they may be required to organize client functions or contacts and they will be required to work with management and keep them informed of all developments. They will be expected to attend and assist in meetings and to keep everyone at all levels up-to-date with developments and happenings.

    Distribute

    • The creative resource coordinator will be required to distribute tasks, briefs and assignments and as such will know the workload and capabilities of the staff. They may be required to edit or proofread and even to assist in the creative process itself such as helping with pitches and presentations.

    Administration

    • The creative resource coordinator will have many administrative duties to perform. They will need to keep records of what work is being done, to whom it has been assigned what was the cost and the budget and any other technical details. Hey may have to answer phones and address queries. They may have to order resources such as extra staff, stationary or other equipment necessary for the business to perform its functions.
