The Missouri General Assembly administers salary for the recorder of deeds in each county when the occupation is separated from the clerk of circuit court. The record of deeds earns statutory compensation based on the assessed valuation of the total amount of properties recorded. The salary is distributed the year after the deeds are recorded. The assessed valuation salary ranges from $29,000 to $45,000 per year. A portion of the salary -- $2,000 per year -- is authorized if a recorder of deeds completes 20 hours of accredited training each year.

For cities or counties with a population over 300,000, recorders of deeds must operate their office open between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with the exception of public holidays for the state. There are no requirements for a recorder of deeds office in cities and counties with populations under 300,000. Recorders of deeds in cities and counties where the population is under 300,000 often work part-time hours.
