Father's Day is a chance for children to show their dads how much they love and appreciate them.

Father's Day gifts from children are as much about the child as the father. The gifts give children the chance to show their dads how much they love and appreciate them. Making a gift adds a personal depth to a Father's Day gift that can show a dad just how much his relationship with his child means.

  1. Bible Bookmark

    • Give the children colored construction paper that's pre-cut to the size of a bookmark. Let them decorate the bookmarks on one side with markers and Father's Day-themed stickers. Have the children write a favorite Bible verse or a message to their fathers on the other side of the bookmark. Use clear contact paper to laminate the bookmarks and cut them out. Use a single-hole punch to make a hole in the top center of the bookmark, then help the children tie ribbons through the hole.

    Necktie Cookies

    • Giving a father a delicious treat is one way a child can tell him how much she loves him. Decorating that treat on her own makes it even more special. Make sugar cookies cut in the shape of neckties ahead of time. Give the children frosting, sprinkles and decorator's icing to decorate the cookies for their fathers. Help the children put the cookies in small boxes to take them home.

    Dad and Me

    • Give the children blank pieces of paper. Have them write one or two sentences on each page about their relationships with their fathers. If the children are too young to write, compose the sentences for them. Have the children illustrate each page. Instruct the kids to make title pages for their books. When they're finished, punch three holes in the left side of the pages and tie them together with ribbon or thick yarn.

    Sea Glass Candy

    • Make sea glass candy. Sea glass candy is hard candy that looks like bits of glass on the beach that were smoothed by the ocean. Bring the unshattered candy in and help the children break it into pieces with parchment paper and a mallet. Give each student a decorative favor box. Have the children decorate their boxes to look like the beach. Mix the broken sea glass candy in a bowl and have each child pick pieces to fill the boxes. Help them close the boxes, and the candy is ready to be taken home.

    Rice Sock

    • A rice sock is an easy craft for children to do. Give each child a knit sock or have each child bring a sock from home. Have each child fill a sock with rice until it's full, but still flexible. Sew the sock shut for each child, then give them ribbons to tie on the sewn end of the sock for decoration. The sock can then be heated in the microwave to be used like a heating pad. Do not use minute rice; it will cook in the microwave and ruin the rice sock.
