Decorating With Artificial Roses

Decorating With Artificial Roses thumbnail
Use a small container to direct focus to a large artifical rose.

Artificial roses allow you to decorate with the flowers without the expense or hassle of purchasing or gathering fresh roses every few days. Use artificial roses for your every day, year-round decor or for special occasions, such as dinner parties or romantic evenings at home. The container or method you choose to display the roses will alter the impact of the roses, as well. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. The Roses

    • Choose a single color for your artificial roses if you have a specific color scheme in the room or want to stick to a monochromatic color scheme. White roses work with any color, including a white monochromatic color scheme, whereas deep red roses would clash with lime green and purple decor. Mix different colors if you want a garden affect, such as light pinks, white and bright pink roses. Opt for roses that look real if you want a garden fresh look, perhaps including a few silk roses with faux honeydew drops or thorns. Alternatively, opt for unnatural colors if it goes with your decor. For example, black or violet roses would complement a goth room just as much as blood red roses, whereas light blue roses would work in a little boy's nursery.

    Containers

    • Small bud vases in clear or colored glass and hand-painted designs are available to hold a single artificial rose. Line up a series of bud vases or very small pots with a single rose in each on a small window ledge or bathtub. Large vases or bowls will hold large arrangements and can incorporate different colors or other types of silk flowers. Use lacquered vases for Oriental-themed decor or a modern decorating style, such as a simple arrangement of red roses in a shiny white vase with all black and white contemporary furniture. Alternatively, old milk jugs or watering cans can hold the roses for a country look.

    Accessories

    • Silk flowers or filler can add a natural look to the artificial roses, especially in pots or clear vases. Alternatively, use colored pebbles, marbles, sea glass or beads to fill the bottom of a clear container. The colors in the filler can match the roses or include other colors for a different look. For example, use blue marbles in a vase holding yellow flowers in a country-themed room or smooth black pebbles and white roses in a beach-themed room. Tie a large bow around the vase or container for a fancy look.

    Arrangement Ideas

    • Snip a couple of large silk leaves off of the roses and float the leaves in a small glass bowl of water. Set the rose head on top of the flower for an almost lily pad look. The floating roses can serve as a centerpiece for your dinner table or an interesting arrangement on your foyer table, nightstand or bathtub ledge.

Arrange a couple of large roses on the bottom of a tall glass vase or bowl and secure them in place with waterproof glue or heavy clear pebbles. Add water to the vase for a sunken look. Include waterproof LED lights in the vase to use the arrangement as a mood-setter or nightlight.

Scatter rose petals around your dining table, bed, hallway or bathtub for a romantic evening at home. Add votive candles and a few roses in bud vases to complete the look.
