My Maps
-
With the "My Maps" feature of Google Maps, you can create customized maps containing multiple location markers. You can mark different locations using blue placemark pens. When you activate a pen by placing it on the map, a pop-up appears above it. Within this pop-up, you can customize the location that you have created by adding images and text. You can also format your text using HTML. You can further augment your maps by joining your locations with lines and shapes.
Learning the Interface
-
When you load "www.maps.google.com" and sign in to your Google account, you are greeted with a generic map that shows your general location. If you click the "My Places" button located on the left side of the page, you will be taken to the "My Maps" interface. When you click the "Create Map" button, you will be given a chance to name a map and give it a description. In the upper left side of the map, you will see the tools with which you can create multiple locations.

Using the Tools
-
The two tools that you'll use most often to create multiple locations are "Add a placemark" and "Draw a line." Using these tools may require a bit of practice at first. Select one of the tools by clicking its icon. Once you've done so, simply move the mouse cursor into the map and click to place the object. In the case of the line, click once, move the mouse to draw the line, and then click again. You must press the "Enter" key to stop using the line tool. Otherwise, you will continue to draw line after line every time you click.
Creating Locations
-
To create multiple locations on your map, simply add as many placemark pens as you need to it. Drag each pen to the exact location where you need it and click it once to bring up its information box. Click "Rich Text" to open a dialog box with which you can add images or text to the location. You can use the line tool to draw lines between your placemarks, and when you do so, Google Maps automatically tells you the distance between them.
