How to Start a Game of Badminton

...

Badminton is a fun recreational sport to play with your friends. Most people know that badminton is the game where two or four people hit a shuttle back and forth over a net. Points are scored when one player or team does not successfully return the shuttle over the net to their opponent's side of the court. Starting a game of badminton requires you to setup a net, create boundaries, determine who first serves the shuttle and properly serve the shuttle.

Raise the badminton net so that it sits 5 feet, 1 inch high on each pole and dips to 5 feet high at the center of the net. The height is measured from the top of the net.

Pour chalk in a straight line for 22 feet from one pole toward the back of the court. Badminton courts are 44 feet in length, separated evenly by the net. Make the same line on the opposite pole, and then create the boundary lines on the other side of the net. Connect the ends of each line on both sides of the court with a line parallel to the net to create the back boundary line.

Flip a coin to determine which side will serve first.

Stand on the right side of the court if you are the server, drop the shuttle with one hand and strike the shuttle with the racket using an underhand motion, so that the shuttle is struck below your waist.
